FAQs
What fitness level is required for the tour?
The hut-to-hut tour covers distances ranging from 11 to 17 km per day with significant elevation changes. You should be in good physical shape and comfortable hiking on rugged mountain terrain for several hours. Training in advance, especially with uphill and downhill hiking, is recommended
What is the difficulty level of this tour?
This tour is considered moderately challenging. Some days involve steep ascents and descents, while the terrain can be rocky and uneven. There are options for more adventurous routes (e.g., climbing Mt. Kanjavec) and some flexibility on the final day to adjust for comfort.
The trails are not technical and the days not too long, but nobody has said it was too easy.
What should I pack for the hike?
Essentials include sturdy, well-broken-in hiking boots, weatherproof clothing, a backpack, a reusable water bottle, and energy snacks. Don’t forget layers, as mountain weather can be unpredictable. A detailed packing list will be provided after booking.
Can I join the tour as a solo traveler?
Yes! The self-guided variation of the tour is suitable for anybody and the price doesn't change if you are along. Don't worry, you will meet other people on the trail to keep you company, but it will never get too busy :)
What is the accommodation like in the mountain huts?
The mountain huts are rustic and communal but provide the necessary amenities for a comfortable stay, such as beds with blankets, hot meals, and access to water. However, there is limited electricity, and facilities are often shared. Be prepared for simple living.
What happens in case of bad weather?
Mountain weather can change rapidly. Guides will adjust the route if necessary to ensure safety, and self-guided hikers will receive instructions on safer alternate routes. It's crucial to have waterproof gear and be prepared for varying conditions.
